A total of 343 teams from 17 countries participated in the 2023 World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA) at the Sarjana Wiyata Tamansiswa University (UST) Yogyakarta campus, October 10 - 15, 2023.
This activity was organized by UST in collaboration with the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA) centered on the UST Yogyakarta Central campus, Jalan Batikan Umbulharjo Yogya was opened by Dr. Silvester Goridus Sukur MPd as Vice Rector IV of UST representing UST Rector Prof. Pardimin MPd PhD. Previously given an introduction Deni Irawan MPd as President of the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA).
Abdul Rahim MPd (Chairman of the Organizing Committee) said, this activity was attended by 343 teams from 17 countries. Of the 343 teams, as many as 249 teams participated in WYIIA online, mainly from abroad and 94 teams from Indonesia participated offline/directly. "UST Yogya features 4 teams," said Abdul Rahim.
WYIIA 2023 was the first time UST was held, followed by elementary to college students from Sabang to Merauke. From abroad, among others, USA, Mexico, United Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam
Dwi Susanto MPd as Vice Chief Executive said, WYIIA is similar to the Science Olympiad. The participants and teams will present in English the results of research, discoveries and innovations in the field of science and technology.Meanwhile, Dr. Silvester G Sukur in his opening remarks said, the WYIIA 2023 event is a world competition to showcase inventions, innovations in the fields of science, technology, environment and engineering. "The development of the younger generation in social science, environmental science, innovation science, life science, engineering science will be able to increase creativity. Creativity, innovation and invention are expected to come from the younger generation, in this case elementary, junior high, high school students and students," he said. (Jay)
