Several students of RUQ Al Falah Junior High School in Salatiga City made outstanding achievements in the international innovation competition, World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA) Yogyakarta, last Thursday-Sunday (10-13/10/2024). In the event, 19 students divided into four groups won one gold medal in the education category and three gold medals in the environmental science category.
One of the educational innovations that won the gold medal was the introduction of Salatiga City as a tolerant city packaged with an Augmented Reality (AR) based application. The head of curriculum at RUQ Al Falah Junior High School, Muhammad Yasin Al Amin, said that the four groups that were dispatched brought innovations according to a predetermined theme.
One of the innovations that caught the attention of visitors and judges was the Bintang group, consisting of Fadhol Ubaidhilah (Grade 9), Muhammad Bintang Putra Syarifudin (Grade 8), M. Alif Nunzaihaq Saifullah (Grade 8), Rayhan Syah Setianto (Grade 9) and M. Althaf Daniswara (Grade 7). They brought an innovative application to introduce Salatiga city through AR called Salatiga Culture Harmoni. “Salatiga is the second most tolerant city in Indonesia, so it makes students interested to dig deeper. In fact, students were also involved in creating a supportive program,” said Yasin at RUQ Al Falah Junior High School, Wednesday (16/10/2024).
Through the application, Yasin said, people from outside Salatiga can learn about tolerance in Salatiga City in real life. All four innovations won gold medals in the event.
