MAN 2 Kudus Research Team wins silver medal at WYIIA 2024

The research team of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 2 Kudus won the Silver Medal of World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA) 2024. The competition was organized by The Indonesian Young Scientists Association (IYSA), in collaboration with Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University (UST) and Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), in Yogyakarta, October 10-14, 2024. The competition was attended by 549 teams from 16 countries, including Indonesia, Bangladesh, South Korea, Vietnam, Turkey, Iran, Nepal, Mexico, Hong Kong, Yemen, Thailand, Pakistan, Philippines, Malaysia Bulgaria and Argentina.

The MAN 2 Kudus team consisted of Muhammad Farrel Ardan (XI-8), Huwayda Syifa Ayesha Utomo (XI-7), Ayu Cetta (XI-7), Meizagian Raffangga Dwinanta Hidayat (XI-7) and Aqueene Keneisha Noreen (X-4) with the supervisor Mrs. Naelatuzurroh, S.Pd. They participated in the online competition with the research title “MEDICLEA (Medicated Hard Candy): Functional Anti-Inflammatory and Antifungal Candy From Parijoto and Green Grass Jelly Leaves For Cancer Sores”.

The innovation carried out in this research is the manufacture of medicinal candy as an effective and easily accepted alternative to thrush medicine using natural ingredients, namely parijoto and green grass jelly plants containing compounds that can function as antifungal and anti-inflammatory.

Head of MAN 2 Kudus, Ali Musyafak was very grateful for the achievements of his students. “Our MAN 2 Kudus students are extraordinary. If yesterday the children have presented extraordinary achievements at the national level, this time the children are even more proud because they managed to bring medals at the international level,” he said in Kudus, Tuesday (15/10/2024). Syafak did not forget to give appreciation to all participants, their mentors and parents. “An extraordinary collaboration, so that students are able to innovate in every step,” he continued.

Syafak hopes that this achievement will further strengthen MAN 2 Kudus's position as a research madrassa with character and globalization. Farrel, one of the research team, expressed happiness and pride, because his team got lucky in the international arena. “Our team is very solitary, the cooperation is very neat, so we are easy to collaborate and finally with the help of Allah and the prayers of all the teachers, may we always be lucky,” he said.

Farel admitted that this was the first international competition he had participated in. The full support from the madrassa, further added to their enthusiasm in competing. “Hopefully in the future we will remain steadfast in the culture of competition and steadfast in the culture of achievement, for the sake of our future and MAN 2 Kudus,” he concluded.

This international achievement is a source of pride for MAN 2 Kudus, which is known as a research and technology-based school. It is not only a competition, but also a means to increase students' interest and love for science and technology. With this achievement, it is hoped that more students will be encouraged to explore the world of science and contribute to the progress of the madrasah.
